Lincoln sat for two life-masks, the most common and best known was taken in April 1860 by Leonard Volk in Chicago. The Mills mask, taken just two months before the assassination, is the only mask of presidential date, but is far less common than the Volk mask, which was reproduced in large numbers in later years.
