577. Gene Pressler (American, early 20th century), “Young Woman with Lantern”, c. 1921; pastel/canvas, 33” x 25”, signed. Pressler was an illustrator working in New York in the first decades of the 20th century. An excellent example of the Art Deco-inspired illustration that was popular at that time. This was the original artwork for the Peters Shoe Company 1921 calendar. 6000-8000
578. Channel Pickering Townsley (American, 1867-1921), "California Landscape", c. 1915; oil/board, 12" x 16", signed in pencil; unframed. 800-1200

585. Hans Ranzoni (Austrian, 1868-1956), "Residence Belvedere", c. 1917, oil on board, 6" x 8". Ranzoni studied at the Ecoles des Beaux-Arts in Venice and the Munich Academy with Carl von Marr. In 1918, he was the president of the Society of Artists in Venice. 800-1200

587. Hudson Mindell Kitchell (American, 1862-1944), “A Figure in an Autumn Landscape”, 1919; oil/canvas, 10” x 14”, signed and dated. Kitchell's address in 1924 was New York City, but he painted across the entire nation. His style is strikingly similar to R.A. Blakelock's, and the results were very successful. He exhibited at the Society of Independent Artists in the 1920s. 1000-2000

He studied at the Art Institute of Chicago, and exhibited at the Chicago Gallery Association, Palette and Chisel Club, New Orleans Art League, and the Delgado Museum (New Orleans). 500-1000
598. Hiroshi Yoshida (Japanese, 1876-1950), “Village Street Scene”, c. 1918; watercolor/paper, 10" x 14.5", signed. Yoshida was most famous for his woodblock prints he made after 1920, but these early original works in watercolor are rare and exceptional. 800-1200
