| 590. Walter Koeniger (American, 1881-1943), "Spring Landscape with Lake", c. 1920; oil/canvas, 32" x 32", signed; label verso. Koeniger studied in Germany with Duecker and von Gebhard before coming to America around 1910, and becoming an important member of the Woodstock Artists Colony (New York). He became well known by painting scenes of the Catskill Mountains in New York State in this square format. He was a member of the Salmagundi Club, and his work is in the collection of the Toledo Museum of Art and the Ravinia Elementary School. 2500-4500 | ||||||||||||
