| 666. Chaim Gross (American, 1904-1991), Mother and Children Standing, c. 1960; bronze sculpture with soft brown and green patina, 8"h, signed and numbered, 1/12. Provenance: acquired directly from the artist. Gross came to the U.S. in 1921. He was active in the WPA in the 1930s. He worked in Provincetown off and on throughout the 1920s-40s. He worked primarily in wood until the late 1950s, when he switched to bronze casting. He taught sculpture at the New School for Social Research in the late 1940s. Gross exhibited and won prizes across the country throughout the 1930s-70s, and his work is in the collections of the Metropolitan Museum of Art, Whitney Museum, Museum of Modern Art, and the Federal Trade Commission Building (Wash.
