633. George Ames Aldrich (American, 1872-1941), "Brittany Stream in Winter", c. 1910; oil/canvas, 24" x 30", signed, fine carved frame. Aldrich studied with Whistler and F. Thaulow in France. His specialty was richly painted impressionist scenes of Brittany and Normandy, almost always including water. He exhibited regularly at the Hoosier Salon and the Art Institute of Chicago. He was a member of the Societe des Artistes Francais and the Chicago Society of Painters and Sculptors. 8000-10,000

634. Lucie Hartrath (American, 1868-1962), "A Young Girl in a Bonnet", c. 1915; oil/canvas, 15" x 19", signed, original frame. Hartrath studied with Vanderpoel at the Art Institute of Chicago, and in Paris and Munich. She exhibited as early as 1898, at the Art Institute of Chicago, and in 1901, at the Pennsylvania Academy of Fine Art. She also exhibited at the Hoosier Salon, Paris Salon, and the Chicago Municipal Art League. Hartrath taught at Rockford College from 1902-04. She visited Brown County, Indiana around 1908-1910, and like many Chicago painters, rented a cabin and spent the summers there. She was considered by many to be the most talented woman landscapist from the Chicago area, and the Brown County hills were an excellent source of subject matter for her. Her work is included in the collections of the Governor's Mansion (Springfield, IL), Municipal Art League (Chicago), Union League Club (Chicago), and in many public buildings in Illinois and Indiana. 635. Francis Folcer Brown (American, 1891-1971), "Spring Maidens", c. 1925; oil/board, 28" x 31", signed on verso and titled, excellent frame. Brown studied with J.Otis Adams and William Forsyth. He exhibited at the Hoosier Salon, Richmond Art Association, and the Corcoran Gallery. He taught at Ball State Teachers College.
