624. Charles Dana Gibson (American, 1867-1944),"Elegant Lady", c. 1903; ink drawing, 15" x 7", signed and dated. Important illustrator. Gibson studied at the Art Students League and in Paris, and exhibited from the 1890s-1910s, at the Art Institute of Chicago, Pennsylvania Academy of Fine Art, and the Pan-Am Expo (Buffalo). He was best known for his drawings of women, and was the highest paid illustrator of the time, working for Collier's from 1904-08. He became the owner and editor of the old Life magazine after WWI, but gave up drawing entirely for painting in the 1930s. 400-600

625. Maria Liszt (American, b. mid 20th century), "Portrait of Kidder", c. 1950; oil/canvas 24" x 20" signed. Studied at the Scott Carbee School of Art and under Aldro Hibbard, Carl Nordstrom, Emile Gruppe and Lester Stevens. Liszt exhibited at the North Shore Arts Association, The National Association of Women Painters, and was awarded the Elizabeth T. Greenshild's Memorial Award. She was sought after for portrait work as well as mural work in hotels, dining rooms and ballrooms in Boston, New York and Florida.
