768. Abbott Pattison (American b. 1916) "The Artist's Studio", c.1955; oil/canvas, 27" x 56" , signed. Well known Chicago painter and sculptor. Pattison studied at Yale and was a member of the Chicago Arts Club. He exhibited at the Art institute of Chicago (1940-69), Pennsylvania Academy of Fine Art, Metropolitan Museum, and the Whitney. He won the First Logan Prize at the Art Institute of Chicago in 1942. His work is in the collections of the Whitney Museum, Buckingham Palace (London), San Francisco Museum of Art, and the Israel State Museum (Jerusalem). He later taught at the Art Institute of Chicago, and was the sculptor-in-residence at the University of Georgia. 2500-4500

770. Charles Salerno (American, b. 1916), "Conversation", c. 1950; carved stone sculpture, 19"h, signed. New York City sculptor. Salerno studied at the Art Students League, Academie Grande Chaumiere (Paris), and in Mexico City. He was a member of the National Academy of Design and the Sculptors Guild. He exhibited at the Whitney Museum, Pennsylvania Academy of Fine Art, and the Museum of Modern Art. He won a Tiffany Foundation fellowship for sculpture (1948) and the Margaret Hirsch-Levine Prize in sculpture. His work is in the collections of the Rhode Island School of Design, Arizona State University, and the Wadsworth Atheneum. 2000-3000
