751. Ward Lockwood (American, 1894-1963), "Foliate Movement", c. 1959; polymer/canvas, 36" x 50", signed and dated. Lockwood studied at Kansas University and the Pennsylvania Academy of Fine Art. He exhibited at the Art Institute of Chicago, Denver Art Museum, San Francisco Museum of Art, and the Museum of New Mexico. He painted murals in the Taos, New Mexico Court House. He taught at the University of Texas (Austin) from 1938-49, and at Berkeley (UC) from 1949-61. 4500-6500
752. Remo Farruggio (Italian/American, 1904-1981), "Abstract", c.1937; oil/canvas, 16" x 41" signed and dated. Farruggio studied at the National Academy of Design and Beaux-Arts Institute of Design both in NYC. He was a member of the National Academy of Literature and Arts. Working in New York and Provincetown, he was close friends with Motherwell, the Soyers, and Chaim Gross. He was one of two WPA artists given a solo show at the Julien Levy Gallery (1939) and continued to travel and exhibit extensively in the US and Europe through to the 70's. 800-1200
