He exhibited throughout the 1930s-40s, at the Associated American Artists, National Academy of Design, and the Oehlschlager Gallery (Chicago). His work is in the collections of the Art Institute of Chicago, Metropolitan Museum, Whitney Museum, and Cranbrook Academy. 1500-2000

743. Alexander Raymond Katz (Hungarian/American, 1895-1974), "Woman", c. 1956; woodblock print, 19" x 15", signed and dated. Chicago painter and illustrator. Katz studied at the Art Institute of Chicago, and worked as a WPA muralist. He was the director of the poster department at Paramount in the 1920s-30s, and worked on the art staff of Chicagoan Magazine. He designed Century of Progress posters and illustrated several books. He was commissioned to do a mural for the Century of Progress, and his work is in the collections of the Butler Art Institute, Oak Park Temple, Evansville, Indiana Museum, and the Ghent Museum. 500-700
