701. Aimee Schweig (American, b. 1897), "Felicite Lajoie", c. 1938;oil /board, 36" x 28", signed, dated, and titled. Scweig studied at the St Louis School of Fine Art and with Charles Hawthorne. She was a member of the National Association of Women Artists, St Louis Artists Guild, Provincetown Art Association, and the Society of Independent Artists. She exhibited at the Metropolitan Museum of Art, Corcoran Gallery, Denver Art Museum, Kansas City Art Institute, and the St Louis Artist Guild. She was instrumental in forming an avant-garde group of painters in Ste. Genevieve, MO. This is an exceptional early work by Scweig. 6000-8000

703. Mervin Jules (American, b. 1912), "Klu Klux Klan", c.1945; oil/board, 20" x 24", unsigned, provenance. Modernist painter and printmaker. Jules studied at the Art Students League with Benton. He exhibited at the Worlds Fair New York (1939); Art Institute of Chicago (1940-46); Museum of Modern Art, and the Boston Museum of Art. He taught at the Museum of Modern Art School and Smith College in the 1940s. 1800-2200
