654. Carl Krafft (American, 1884-1938), "Across Country", c. 1920, oil/canvas, 25" x 30", signed, original frame, artist's label on verso. Important Chicago landscape painter. Krafft studied at the Art Institute of Chicago and the Chicago Fine Arts Academy. He was a prolific painter and was active in numerous art organizations, including the Chicago Galleries Association, Cliff Dwellers, Oak Park Art League, Painters and Sculptors of Chicago and the Society of Ozark Painters. He exhibited at the National Academy of Design, Pennsylvania Academy of Fine Art, Art Institute of Chicago (1915-1925) and the Corcoran Museum (Washington D.C.). His work is included in numerous important public collections, including the University of Illinois, Richmond, Indiana Art Association, Nineteenth Century Women's Club, Los Angeles Museum, Municipal Art league (Chicago) and South Shore Country Club. Krafft cofounded the Ozark Society of Artists and also worked in Indiana. 3000-5000

656. Arnold Turtle (American, 20th century), "Brown County Landscape", c.1930; oil/canvas, 25 x 30", signed, original frame. Turtle worked in Chicago, and specialized in impressionist views and figure paintings. 1000-2000
657. American School "Indiana Dunes", c. 1920; oil/board, 12" x 16", unsigned, wide oak frame. 300-500
658. Carl Graf (American, 1892-1947), "Autumn Landscape", c. 1920; oil/board, 16" x 19", unsigned, Brown County Art Guild label reads: painting purchased by Nashville Frame Co. #664, Marie Goth Est. 1982. Graf studied at the Herron Art Institute with Forsyth, and then at the Pennsylvania Academy of Fine Art and the Art Students League (where he met V.J. Cariani). He remained friends with Cariani, and eventually married Cariani's girlfriend's (Marie Goth) sister, Genevieve Goth, in the mid 1920s. He was the first president of the Brown County Art Gallery Association, formed in 1926. He painted landscapes and still lifes, and exhibited at the Hoosier Salon. 3000-5000
