850. Thea Tewi (American, b. 1913), “Three Figures”, c.1965; marble, 24"h x 12"w; it sits on a tall black plinth. Tewi was born in Germany, and came to the U.S. in 1930. She studied with Seymour Lipton at the New School for Social Research and at the Art Students League. She was a member of the Sculptor’s League, National Association of Women Artists, and the American Society of Contemporary Artists. She exhibited extensively in the 1960s-70s, and her work is in the collections of the Smithsonian Institution, Cincinnati Art Museum, Norfolk Museum of Arts and Sciences, and Notre Dame University. 1000-2000
