| 617. Robert Edmond Lee Jones (American, b. 1913), Trabajo, c. 1940; oil/board, 25" x 21", identified on verso with a label from the Jackson State Museum (Jackson, Mississippi). This label gives the artists name, the title of the painting, date, and the artists address in Chicago at 1322 Independence. Rare and important African-American painter from Chicago. Jones was born in Lynchburg, Virginia. He moved to Chicago and studied at Hull House and the Art Institute of Chicago. He was a founding member of the National Conf. Artists.
