| 589. Charles Livingston Bull (American, 1874-1932), The Racoon and the Raven, c. 1905; pencil and ink drawing, 23" x 16", signed. Important American illustrator, best known for his portrayal of wildlife. Bull was a friend of Arts & Crafts designer Harvey Ellis. He exhibited at the Pennsylvania Academy of Fine Art, National Academy of Design, and the Art Institute of Chicago from 1899-1917. A number of his illustrations were reproduced as patriotic posters. Bull worked as a taxidermist for Wards Department Store, and several of his works in this field were in the collection of Theodore Roosevelt. 1000-2000 | ||||||
