DeHaven worked in New York and throughout New England. He studied with Smillie in New York, and exhibited at the National Academy of Design (for 50 years), Brooklyn Art Association, Pennsylvania Academy of Fine Art, Boston Art Club, and the Art Institute of Chicago.
