543. Gerald A. Frank (American, b. 1889), “Fruits of the Earth”, c. 1921; oil/canvas, 40" x 40", signed, fine original frame, plaque on frame reads, “purchased by the commission for the encouragement of local art, Chicago, 1924”. Chicago painter. Frank studied with Ufer, Reynolds, and Charles Hawthorne. He was a member of the Chicago Painters and Sculptors and the Chicago Gallery Association. He exhibited at the Pennsylvania Academy of Fine Art, Chicago Gallery Association, and the Art Institute of Chicago 1910s-30s). This is an excellent example of Frank’s work, and a fine example of the still life painting tradition in Chicago in the early 20th century. 2000-3000
