532. Robert Grafton (American, 1876-1936), “Road through Indiana”, c. 1911; oil/canvas, 24" x 20", signed. Grafton studied at the Art Institute of Chicago and the Academie Julian. He exhibited at the Art Institute of Chicago (1907-18); Delgado Museum; New Orleans Art Association (1914-17); Richmond Art Association (1910-19) and the Hoosier Salon (1917-18). Grafton worked in the Midwest in the beginning of his career, and then began visiting New Orleans during the winter months with his friend, Louis Oscar Griffith. Together, they painted murals in the St. Charles Hotel. His work is in numerous important public collections in the South and the Midwest. 2500-4500
