| 491. Ben Foster (American, 1852-1926) Solitude, c. 1910; oil/canvas, 44" x 62", signed. Ben was the younger brother of painter, Charles Foster. He studied with Abbott Thayer and at the Art Students League in New York. He also worked with Aime Morot and Luc Oliver Merson in Paris. He was a member of the American Water Color Society, Century Association, National Academy of Design, National Institute of Arts and Letters, New York Watercolor Club, and Society of American Artists. Foster primarily painted the New England landscape after settling in Cornwall Hollow, Connecticut. 3000-5000 | ||||||
