| 484. Arthur W. Best (American, 1859-1935), California Landscape, c. 1900; oil/canvas, 14" x 20", signed, original frame. Best worked in San Francisco from 1895-1935, painting primarily landscapes. He was a member of the Berkeley League of Fine Artists and the Bohemian Club. He exhibited at the Mark Hopkins Institute (1898-1904), Alaskan-Yukon Expo (Seattle, 1909), and numerous California State Fairs. His brother, Harry Cassie Best, was also a painter, and the two came to California together, in 1895. Many of Arthurs works were destroyed in the fire and earthquake of 1906. 1500-2500 | ||||||
