Cooper was born and studied art in St. Louis before traveling to San Jose, where he painted mostly westerns and Indian portraits. He had a very successful career, and his work is in the collections of the Western Art Museum (Tulsa), San Jose Historical Museum, Buffalo Bill Historical Center, Gilcrease Institute, Oakland Museum, and Caesar’s Palace (Las Vegas). 2000-3000
