777. Robert Biggs (American, 20th century), “Still Life”, c.1983; oil/canvas, 20" x 24", signed and dated. St. Louis modernist painter. Biggs studied at the St. Louis School of Fine Art on the G.I. Bill, with Philip Guston, Max Beckmann, and F.G. Carpenter. Once in a drunken rage, he burned 150 of his paintings and developed a new style, combining a stylized regionalism with a precisionist accuracy to architecture and objects. He exhibited at the first “Currents” show at the St. Louis Art Museum in 1978, and at the peoples Art Center in St. Louis. 600-800
