| 741. Edmund Brucker (American, b. 1912), The Dancer, c.1960; oil/canvas, 36" x 28", signed. Important Indianapolis modern painter. Brucker studied at the Cleveland School of Art, and exhibited at the Hoosier Salon (1939-1980s), Metropolitan Museum of Art, Pennsylvania Academy of Fine Art, and the Carnegie Art Institute. He was primarily a figure painter, and was one of the most successful of the regionalist painters from Indianapolis. His work is in the collections of the Indianapolis Museum of Art, Herron Art School, Indianapolis Motor Speedway, Butler Institute of American Art, Cleveland Museum of Art. 1500-2500 |
