John Lavalle (American, b. 1896), “Swimming Lesson at Mulanda Rock”, c.1961; watercolor/paper, 21" x 28", signed, “John Lavalle, AWS, Kenya” and dated; and on verso reads, “The Parrish Art Museum, Southampton, Long Island, 1962 Fine Arts Festival”. Lavalle studied at Harvard and at the Boston Museum of Fine Art School with Hale. He was a member of the Guild of Boston Artists, American Watercolor Society and the Boston Society of Watercolor Painters.
