661. William Forsyth (American, 1854-1935), “Floral Still Life”, c.1920; oil/board, 16” x 12”, signed. Highly important Hoosier group painter. Primarily a landscape painter, Forsyth studied at the Royal Academy of Munich. He exhibited St. louis Expo (1904), Pan-Pacific Expo (1915), Richmond Art Association, Indianapolis Art Association, and the Hoosier Salon (1925-35). His work is in the collections of the Indianapolis Athletic Club, Indiana State Museum, Brooklyn Museum, and the Herron Art Institute. He taught with J.Otis Adams in Muncie and Ft Wayne, with T.C. Steele at the second Indianapolis School of Art, and at the Herron Art Institute (1906-1933). 4000-6000
