| 618. Alexander Dzigurski (American/Yugoslavian, b.1911), Seascape in Carmel, c.1960; oil/canvas, 24" x 36", signed. Dzigurski painted almost entirely this subject matter. He studied in Belgrade and in Munich. He was a member of the Fine Arts Institute, Los Angeles and the Society of Western Artists. Dzigurski fled Titos Communist regime in Italy, and eventually settled in California in 1952. A New York Times critic once called him, a poet of the sea. REF: 300 Years in American Art. 2500-4500 |
