| 604. Robert Frederick Blum (American, 1857-1903), Portrait of J.F. Huffington (or Washington), c. 1879; pencil drawing/paper, 10" x 8", signed and dated, titled indistinctly. Blum studied in Cincinnati with Duveneck and gained quite a reputation as a draftsman. This early drawing, executed in Cincinnati before Blum left for Venice, is a testimony to that. In Europe, Blum became acquainted with Whistler, Chase, and Twachtman, all of whom were very influential on his work. 800-1200 |
