| 600. Edwin Deakin (American, 1838-1923), The Old Mill, c. 1880; oil/canvas, 24" x 16", signed. Deakin had established himself as a painter in England before moving to Chicago in 1856. He remained there for roughly 14 years working primarily as a portrait painter. In 1870, he moved to California and focused on still life painting. He traveled to Europe in the late 1870s. His work is in the collections of the Los Angeles County Museum of Art, California Historical Society, and the Oakland Museum. 2000-3000 |
