575. Luther Emerson Van Gorder (American, 1861-1931), “The Matador”, c. 1900; painted fan, 14.5" x 26.5", signed, framed in a shadowbox frame. Van Gorder studied with Chase and Turner in New York, as well as in Paris. He exhibited at the Art Institute of Chicago, National Academy of Design, Pennsylvania Academy of Fine Art, Brooklyn Art Association, and the Boston Art Club. Van Gorder worked in Toledo, Ohio for a number of years. 800-1200
