| 561. James Edward McBurney (American, 1868-1955), Rolling Landscape, c. 1925; oil/canvas, 10" x 14", initialed and dated. McBurney studied under Arthur Dow and Charles Davis. He exhibited at the Pan-Pacific Expo (San Francisco, 1915) and the Chicago gallery Association. He served as art director for the Chicago Park District, and was a member of the Southside Art Association. He painted numerous murals in the Chicago area, and is featured in a new book, Art for the People, (Heather Becker, Chronicle Books, San Francisco). 400-600 |
