| 719. Ulfert S. Wilke (German/American, 1907-1988), lot of two works, one pictured: Baroque Fountain, c. 1951; ink brush drawing, 27" x 14", signed and dated; with: Calligraphy, c. 1969; lithograph, 16" x 12", pencil signed and dated, Print Club of Cleveland label verso. Modernist painter and printmaker. Wilke exhibited at the Art Institute of Chicago as early as 1945, and the Solomon Guggenheim Museum in 1954. He participated in an exhibit at the Museum of Modern Art called, Lettering by Modern Artists, which relates to this lot. He taught at the Kalamazoo (MI) College, Springfield (IL) Art Association, and the University of Iowa Museum of Art. 300-500 | ||||
