693. Charles Bragg (American, b. 1931), “Black Boy on Path”, c. 1960; oil/canvas, 24" x 42", signed. St. Louis artist. Bragg studied at the Art Students League in New York. He was awarded a gold medal from the Art Guild of Chicago, and his works are included in the collections of the Pushkin Museum (Moscow) and the Dayton (OH) Art Museum. Bragg exhibited at the Edward Weston Gallery in California, Lahaina Galleries in Hawaii, and numerous times in St. Louis venues (from the 60s-80s). Most of Bragg’s work was figurative in subject and satirical in content. REF: The Absurd World of Charles Bragg, Geoffrey Taylor (Abrams). Bragg was more well known for his later, more comical works, but this early example reveals his talent for figure painting, and his ability to convey an emotion in his work. 800-1200
