633. Gertrude Abercrombie (American, 1909-1977), "Shell", c.1952; silver brooch with oil painting, total size is 2" x 2", initialed, "G.R." on painting. Abercrombie began executing these pins in 1951, and they were highly successful. The subjects included shells, cats, self-portraits, giraffes, and the tree at Aledo.
