616. David Vincent Hayes (American, b. 1931), "Untitled", c.1977; steel sculpture, 26" x 20", signed in base and dated. Hayes studied at the Ogunquit School of Painting and Sculpture with Robert Laurent and at Indiana University with David Smith. He exhibited at the Whitney Museum of Art; Pennsylvania Academy of Fine Art; Museum Rodin, Paris; Musee Art Moderne, Paris; and the Smithsonian. He was awarded a Fulbright grant and a Guggenheim Foundation fellowship. He taught at Harvard University, and his work is in the collections of the Museum of Modern Art, Guggenheim Museum, Musee Arts Decoratif (Paris), and the Houston Museum of Art. 1000-2000
