Hatfield studied in Paris with Constant and Lefebvre (1880s-90s) at the Academie Julian. He exhibited at the Boston Art Club (1888-1902); Paris Salon (1891); Pennsylvania Academy of Fine Art, and the National Academy of Design (1890s).
