480. Charles Henri Joseph Leickert (Dutch, 1816-1907), "Skaters on the River Amstel", c.1870; oil/canvas laid down on masonite, 24" x 39", signed. Leickert studied at the Koninklijke Academie van Beeldende Kunsten, and with Bartholomeus Johannes van Hove, Wijnand Nuyen, and Andreas Schelfhout. He specialized in winter scenes with multiple figures, which were highly influenced by the work of Schelfhout. This is an excellent example of the artist's best known subject matter. 30,000-50,000
