459. American School, style of Paul DeLongpre , “Floral Still Life on a Stone Ledge”, c.1900; watercolor/paperboard, 17" x 25.5", unsigned. The subject and style of execution of this work is consistent with the body of work of DeLongpre, a well known California painter. DeLongpre lived in Hollywood, in a Mission-Moorish home with a spectacular flower garden, which attracted numerous visitors each year. He frequently painted floral arrangements on a stone ledge very much like this. The bottom edge of the work is uneven, which might suggest that it was trimmed (possibly losing the signature). 600-800
