After serving as a merchant marine in WWII, Ronald Pearson studied at the School for American Craftsmen at Rochester Institute of Technology, Rochester, NY. He was a co-founder of Shop One, the first retail shop owned by practicing craftsmen to exclusively sell unique and limited production craft items. Other founders were ceramist Frans Wildenhain, cabinet maker Tage Frid, and metalsmith Jack Prip. Wendell Castle and Albert Paley were part-owners in the 1970s.
