The following lots of Higgins glass were all produced in the Riverside, Illinois studio after 1966. Unlike earlier factory production pieces by Dearborn Glass Co., which had gold screen-printed signatures or signatures incorporated into the glass, these pieces were all hand-made by Frances or Michael or both. All are unique and feature hand-engraved signatures.

Time-Life stools were only produced for sale in walnut. These unusual examples, from the Grand Rapids, Michigan area, are made of atypical woods. The oak example at left has softer curves and angles and is slightly taller than production models.

Mark Peiser was born in Chicago, IL in 1938. In 1967 — the same year he produced these examples — he became the first hot glass artist-in-residence at Penland School of Crafts in North Carolina. He has referred to his works from this period as “Experiments and Exercises”. He later turned to cast, cut, and polished glass sculptures. Peiser’s work is part of the collections of the Art Institute of Chicago, the Cooper-Hewitt Museum, NY, the Corning Museum of Glass and many others.
