Provenance: These chairs were designed for the Frank Lloyd Wright Bogk home, Milwaukee WI, 1916-17. They came directly from the descendants of the original home owners. These chairs were designed by Neidecken in response to a special request by Mrs. Bogk. She desired comfortable living room seating as an alternative to the more severe Prairie School lines of the accompanying furniture designed for the house. These chairs are documented in a historic photo of the Bogk home.

These unique historical manuscripts highlight a very personal perspective of Wright’s intellectual and creative process including crossed out, changed and rewritten sections in Wright’s hand. These free flowing original manuscripts involve Wright’s explanation and very intimate responses to the tragedies of Taliesin, the nature of his personal relationships, his ancestral attachment to the area, his views of the journalistic responses to his life, as well as references to his feelings and beliefs concerning human nature and architecture. These correspondences are referenced in Robert Twombley’s book Frank Lloyd Wright, His Life and His Architecture, page 188.
