852. William Corasick (American, b. 1907), "Memories", c. 1945; oil/canvas, 39" x 24", signed; label verso with title. Philadelphia modernist painter. Corasick studied at Temple University and at the University of Pennsylvania. He was a member of the Philadelphia Art Alliance, and exhibited at the Pennsylvania Academy of Fine Art, National Academy of Design, and the Butler Art Institute (1930s-50s).

853. William Fett (American, b. 1918), "Rome", c. 1955; watercolor/paper, 22" x 31", signed, titled, and dated. He worked in both oil and watercolor. Important St Louis modernist painter and teacher. Fett studied at the Art Institute of Chicago, and exhibited there as well in the 1940s. He alsoexhibited at the Museum of Modern Art, Whitney Museum, St Louis Art Museum, and the Santa Barbara Museum of Art. He traveled to Mexico, and a great deal of his modernist compositions depict that subject. He taught at the St Louis School of Fine Art (Washington University) from 1946-47. He frequently worked in both oil and watercolor.

857. J. Jay McVicker (American, b. 1911), "Untitled", c. 1957; polymer collage, 30" x 30", signed and dated, oil on board; label on verso. Oklahoma painter and sculptor. McVicker studied at Oklahoma State University, and eventually taught there. He painted traditional regionalism in the 1940s, and moved into abstraction later in his career. He exhibited extensively from the 1940s-70s, at the Art Institute of Chicago, Whitney Museum, Dallas Museum of Fine Art, and the Pennsylvania Academy of Fine Art.

858. Michael Gloeckner (American, 1915-1989), "Abstract Composition", c. 1966; oil/canvas, 30" x 30", initialed. Gloeckner painted in Connecticut in the mid-20th century, and specialized in fragmented compositions that affirmed rational subjects in light and color sections. His style represented a transition from early abstract works to colorfield paintings.

859. Bill Barrett (American, b. 1934), "Composition", c. 1997; oil/canvas, 30" x 24", signed. Painter and sculptor. Barrett studied at the University of Michigan. His work is in the collections of Neiman-Marcus, Hitachi, San Francisco Museum of Art, Virginia Museum of Art, and the Utsukushi-ga-Hara Museum (Tokyo). He regularly exhibits at the Navy Pier in Chicago.

860. Sonia Delaunay (Ukrainian, 1885-1979), "Abstract Composition" 1970; color lithograph, 23.5" x 17.5", signed and numbered, 24/25, with artist’s proof. Delaunay studied in Germany and in Paris. It was in Paris that she met and married Cubist painter, Robert Delaunay in 1910. Her style, generally known as Simultaneous Contrasts, is based upon the idea of increasing the contrast of two complimentary colors by placing them side by side, in a quilted pattern. Delaunay began to design fabric and clothing, bringing art into fashion, much like the Futurists did in the 1910s-20s.

WPA artist. Ulreich painted murals for Radio City Music Hall. Ulreich exhibited at the Art Institute of Chicago, Dudensing Gallery (NYC), Vienna Secession, and the Pennsylvania Academy of Fine Art. He illustrated several magazine covers in the 1920s-30s.

He was also included in an exhibition at the Contemporary Art Museum of Houston (Let’s Face it: Exhibition of Contemporary Portraits) with works by Max Beckmann, Milton Avery, and Bruno Cassinari.
