494. Israel (Ismael) Abramofsky (Russian/American, b. 1888), "Sunrise", c. 1948; oil/board, 8" x 10", signed. Abramofsky studied at the Academie Julian in 1914. He exhibited at the Art Institute of Chicago, Youngstown Art Institute, and the Society of Independent Artists. His work is in the collections of the Luxembourg Gallery, Salon d Automne (National Beaux-Arts, Paris), Akron Art Institute, Art Institute of Chicago, Boston Museum, and the Toledo Museum of Art. Abramofsky lived in Toledo from 1947-59. His fauvist style of painting revealed his earlier European modernist influences. 400-600
