She was born in Brookville, IN, and studied at the Cincinnati Art Academy with Frank Duveneck. She exhibited at the Cincinnati Art Museum, Women’s Art Club, Ohio State Fair, and the Hoosier Salon (1930s-40s). She was the wife of fellow Cincinnati painter, Herman Wessel.
