1302. Myron Kozman (American, b.1916)"Composition", c. 1949; oil/board, 18" x 14", signed. Kozman was friend of Moholy-Nagy and taught silkscreen at the Institute of Design. He was one of the first graduates of the Institute of Design, and his work is in the collections of the Art Institute of Chicago, Library of Congress, and the Bloch Gallery (Northwestern). An example of his work is illustrated in Moholy's book, "Vision and Motion". 400-600

1303. Louise Woodroofe (American, early 20th century), "Composition", c.1955; collage, 29" x 39", Woodroofe worked in Champaign, IL, and later taught at the University of Illinois. During the 1930s she traveled with the Ringling Brothers Circus, painting various scenes of circus life, then in the late 1940s-60s, she turned to abstraction, working frequently in collage. She exhibited at the Pennsylvania Academy of Fine Art, National Association of Watercolor Painters, Cincinnati Art Museum (1920s), Butler Art Institute, and at galleries in New York. This work was purchased by the consignor from the estate of the artist. 500-700

Born in Wattenschied, Germany, he studied at the Academy of Fine Arts, Stuttgard and with Hans Hoffman in Munich (1924-26). He moved to the United States in 1928 and settled in Chicago. He lived there until 1945, when he moved to Seattle. He held major shows at the Gelsenkirchen Art Museum, Germany; Inter Gallery, Brussels; Sebastian Reeve Gallery, and the Robert James Gallery, both in California. 700-900
