Lachman worked in Paris in the 1910s, and was also active in New Orleans from 1916-1920. He exhibited at the Art Institute of Chicago, New Orleans Art Association, New Orleans Museum of Art, and the Pennsylvania Academy of Fine Art. He was a member of the Societe International des Artistes et Sculptors, Societe Paris Moderne, and the Chevalier of the Legion of Honor (France). His work is in the collections of the New Orleans Museum of Art, Musee du Luxembourg, Musee de Petit Palais (Paris), and the Art Institute of Chicago.

561. Lewis Henry Meakin (American, 1850-1917), “Clouded Peak”, c.1913; oil/canvas, 19” x 24”, unsigned. Meakin studied with Noble and Duveneck in Cincinnati. He exhibited at the McMicken School of Design, Cincinnati Art Museum, National Academy of Design, Carnegie Institute, and the Art Institute of Chicago. He moved to Cincinnati in 1863 and taught at the Cincinnati Art Academy from 1886-1917. Meakin first went to the Rocky Mountains in 1912, and he was awarded a prize for that subject matter at the Society of Western Artists.
