762. Ben Foster (American, 1852-1926), "Woodland Interior", c. 1910; oil/canvas, 18" x 15", signed. Younger brother of painter of Charles Foster. Studied at the Art students League and with Abbott H. Thayer. He was a member of the American Water Color Society, Century Association, National Academy of Design, National Institute of Arts and Letters, New York Watercolor Club, and Society of American Artists. Foster painted the New England countryside after settling in Cornwall Hollow CT, and was also a successful art critic. 2000-3000
