752. Joseph Henry Sweeny (American, b.1908), “Construction”, c.1940; painted wooden sculpture, 28” high, unsigned, provenance. Sweeny studied at the Art Institute of Chicago, and exhibited at the Wisconsin Memorial Union (Madison, 1935). Sweeny was an industrial designer for Kirby, Cogeshall, Steinau Co. in Milwaukee. He executed sculpture, paintings, and designed furniture in the 1930s-50s. His work is closely related to the Chicago Bauhaus style. Non-Objective sculpture from this period is very rare and desirable.

755. Alonzo Hauser (American, 20th century), “Musician”, c. 1935; plaster sculpture, 19”h, signed. Hauser studied sculpture with William Zorach at the Art Students League. He was a member of the Minnesota Sculptor's Guild and exhibited throughout the 1930s-40s, including at the New York World's Fair (1939).
