264. Rare Bertha Boynton Lum (American, 1879-1954), “Spiderwoman”, c. 1929; watercolor, 37.5"x 24", signed. Lum studied at the Art Institute of Chicago, and then printmaking in Japan. Lum visited Japan and China regularly over the course of her entire career. She specialized in Asian subjects. This is a major unique work on paper by this artist.
