Lot 470 470. Victor Joseph Harles (American, b.1894), "Landscape with a Stream", c.1925; 24" x 20", oil/board, signed. Harles studied at the Art Students League and with J.F. Carlson, in Woodstock, NY, as well as Richard Miller at the St. Louis School of Fine Art. Harles stayed in St. Louis, and was a member of the St. Louis Artist Guild. He painted all types of subject matter, but was best known for his colorful landscapes, painted with a palette knife. 1200-1700 |
| Lot 471 471. Robert Von Neumann (American, 1888-1976), "Rockport Scene", c.1930; oil/canvas, 25" x 30", signed. Von Neumann worked in Milwaukee and Chicago, although many of his paintings depict the Gloucester and Rockport, Mass, area. He was a member of the Rockport Art Association, Wisconsin Painters and Sculptors, and the Chicago Society of Etchers. He exhibited in the 1930s-40s, at the Art Institute of Chicago, National Academy of Design, Minneapolis Institute of Art, Pennsylvania Academy of Art, and the Madison (WI) Art Association. 1000-1500 |
