Ray, born Emmanuel Radensky, was mostly self-taught, and worked in Paris most of his career, except during the 1940s, when he lived in Hollywood. 500-700

Lot 551 551. Martha Ratcliffe (American, 20th century), "War Refugees", c.1946; oil/masonite, 48" x 34", signed, unframed. Information on verso, titled, dated, remnant of a possible exhibition label. Ratcliffe taught in Indianapolis at John Herron. She won the Milliken Award, and exhibited at the Pennsylvania Academy of Fine Art, Connecticut Academy of Fine Art, and the Ross Gallery (Newark). She left Indiana in 1949 to teach at the University of Oklahoma. 1000-2000
