Lot 508 508. Richard A. Chase (American, 1892-1985), "View of Galena", c.1930; oil/board, 16" x 20", signed. Chicago area painter. Chase studied at the Art Institute of Chicago, and worked with Hawthorne and Miller in Provincetown, during many summers of the 1920s. Chase painted street scenes of Chicago, which were illustrated in color in the Chicago Tribune. There was a retrospective show of his work at the Chicago Historical Society in 1981. 500-750 |

x 16", signed. Svendsen moved from Norway to Chicago around 1893. He exhibited in Chicago
and nationally from the 1890s-1920s. His work
reveals his artistic concerns with light and shadow effects.
